"Al Mithaq Center for the Empowerment of Women Heads of Households"

Project Type:
Developmental - Economic - Social - Sustainable Project

Introduction:
In light of the successive crises sweeping the Gaza Strip, the loss of the breadwinner has become a painful reality for thousands of families, leaving women alone in a daily struggle to secure the most basic necessities of life for their children. With rising unemployment and poverty rates, women breadwinners face limited options and almost nonexistent job opportunities, leaving them entirely dependent on humanitarian aid. While this aid alleviates their suffering, it remains a temporary solution that neither achieves financial independence nor guarantees a sustainable future.

Therefore, the "Methaq Center for the Empowerment of Women Breadwinners" represents a true turning point, transforming women from receiving aid to sustainable production by providing real job opportunities and supporting them to establish their own businesses. This enables them to build a dignified life based on work, not aid.

Project Rationale:
Aid is not a sustainable solution.
Continued reliance on relief aid leaves women in a constant state of dependency and inability to improve their economic conditions. While this project provides real job opportunities, it enables women to generate sustainable income, reducing the need for long-term assistance.

Increasing Number of Female Heads of Households Due to the Loss of a Breadwinner
As a result of repeated wars and economic challenges, the number of female-headed households has increased, doubling their living burdens. It has become essential to provide them with economic opportunities that help them support their children with dignity.

Transforming Skills into a Real Source of Income
Many female heads of households possess skills in sewing, cooking, embroidery, and handicrafts, but they lack support and marketing. Through this project, these skills will be transformed into profitable productive businesses that provide them with a steady source of income.

Increasing Child Dropout Due to Poverty (Child Labor)
With the absence of a breadwinner and mothers unable to bear the costs of living alone, children are forced to drop out of school and seek work to support their families, exposing them to the risk of early labor and exploitation. This project provides a steady source of income for mothers, allowing children to continue their education and build a better future.

Deteriorating Child Healthcare Due to the Absence of a Breadwinner
Poverty and financial instability prevent mothers from providing adequate healthcare for their children, leading to worsening illnesses and the spread of malnutrition. Through this project, mothers will be able to secure their children's medical needs, improving their quality of life.

Achieving Sustainability and Reducing Dependence on External Support
Instead of providing temporary financial support, the project seeks to create sustainable job opportunities that enable women to produce and sell their products, ensuring a permanent source of income and reducing dependence on external funding.

Achieving Social Justice and Supporting the Most Vulnerable Groups
Women who are breadwinners have the right to equal opportunities to work and live with dignity. This project provides them with a safe and suitable environment that enables them to integrate into the labor market without discrimination or exploitation.

Building a More Psychologically Stable Society in the Long Term
Economic empowerment of women not only impacts their lives, but also positively impacts family stability and promotes children's psychological health, contributing to building a psychologically stable society.

Project Objectives:
Provide sustainable job opportunities for women who are breadwinners in various productive fields.

Providing women breadwinners with capital that enables them to enter the labor market.

Enhancing women's financial independence, enabling them to provide a decent life for their children without the need for ongoing assistance.

Supporting small entrepreneurial projects for women, creating new economic opportunities in the community.

Reducing the burden on relief organizations by transforming women from aid recipients to productive, economically independent women.

Production lines include:

Sewing, embroidery, and crocheting for the production of clothing and handicrafts.

Producing home-made food and baked goods to competitive market specifications.

Establishing a workroom where we provide internet and electricity to provide a working environment for designers and workers.

Project outcomes:
  • Employing a number of women breadwinners and securing their income.
  • Providing a practical and sustainable alternative to temporary financial assistance.
  • Improving the standard of living of targeted families and reducing poverty rates.
  • Promoting a culture of work and production among women, which will benefit future generations.
Project Sustainability:
  • Establishing an integrated production line to sell products contributes to the center's funding and sustainability.

  • Contributing to product marketing through partnerships and supporting local institutions.
  • Future expansion by introducing new activities according to market needs.
