HRH Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Graces Women Summit & Women #QuranHour, Accepts 'The Khadijah Blanket' as a Symbol of Empowerment

Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin, the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, gracefully attended the opening of the Women Summit & Women #QuranHour today, Wednesday (8 Muharram 1448 AH), held at the Dahlia Auditorium, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque in Shah Alam.
This year’s event was convened under the theme "Women of Grit," launching a global call to empower women as the core pillar of emotional and psychological strength for the Ummah. The summit drew its core vision and guidance from the profound Quranic insights of Surah al-Muzzammil and Surah al-Nisa'.
'The shawl of Khadijah': A Royal Presentation of Sanctuary and Support
During the summit, Her Highness was presented with a special royal commemorative gift called "The Shawl of Khadijah." This memento carries profound symbolic significance, embodying the role of women as a protective shield, a nurturing fortress, and a "cover" that envelops the family and society, providing them with warmth and security.
This initiative evokes the fragrant biography of the Mother of the Believers, Lady Khadija bint Khuwaylid (may Allah be pleased with her), as the supreme role model for the courageous and steadfast woman. She was the first to cover wrap the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) upon receiving the divine revelation. She also supported the Islamic call in its infancy with her wisdom, her wealth, and her overflowing emotion, thus deserving to be the first symbol of support and containment in the history of the Ummah.
The organizers and attendees expressed their deepest gratitude and loyalty to the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor for her royal patronage, which reflects Her Royal Highness’s continuous commitment to fostering Quranic literacy and elevating the societal contributions of women.
Distinguished Participation from a select group of of scholars and academics
The event featured a rich intellectual and cultural program, with the participation of a select group of prominent figures and scholars, including:
Tuan Fazrul Ismail (Chief Research Officer of Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation), who served as the Pentadabbur (theological guide).
Ustaz Tirmizi Ali (International Quran Recitation Champion 2014), who served as the Qari (reciter).
The panel discussions featured a distinguished group of female academics and specialists:
Dr. Fauziah Mohd Hasan (President of ApWCQP).
Associate Prof. Dr. Nora Mat Zin (Senior Lecturer at the Department of Psychiatry, IIUM).

The summit concluded with the reading and launching of the Family Pledge project, delivered by Dato’ (Dr.) Hajah Azza Maisara binti Asad (EXCO MWCQP & Chairperson of Mahabbah Malaysia), amidst great engagement from the attendees who emphasized the importance of returning to the Qur’anic sources to formulate the identity of the modern Muslim woman.
